A bright apartment in Mechelen, Belgium, with fantastic views of trees and a lake.
The client, a retiree who had lived most of her life in America, wanted an interior that gave the feeling of being elsewhere, of being on vacation every day. We therefore opted for soft, warm colors and each finish chosen is textured, which gives a more natural look.
Inside we find the original fireplace that the client wanted to keep. An element of gratitude, but which was neither aligned nor central to the wall. We created cupboards and bookcases on either side of this fireplace, to obtain a central, architectural element and with beautiful symmetry of the cupboards which surround it. In the left part of the cabinets we find the hidden TV screen, with its speakers also recessed. We integrated heating for the right part of the library, easily accessible through the doors of the low cupboards.

To make this project even softer and lighter, we planned semi-transparent curtains with mesh, on curved rails that go all the way around the ceiling. So we could rather close the curtains where we want to achieve the practical or aesthetic aspect.

The two terraces have also been completely renovated while keeping the original balustrades and a glass of wine on the sofa inside or on a terrace immediately makes us forget that we are still in Belgium...
